ZACATECAS
Image #1147
Over a side entrance into the Cathedral of Zacatecas, built in 1730-60 with the wealth produced from the silver mines, is a primitive Baroque interpretation of the crucifixion. Mary and Joseph stand on each side while the draperies are held open by angels and others support pedestals or play entwined in the foliage.
